  • Dr. Yufang Su, Head of the Living Mountain Lab, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), and her team visited the National Botanical Garden on November 6, 2024.

 

  • The National Botanical Garden participated in the 2nd Tihar Flora Expo 2021 organized by the Nursery Association Nepal (NAN) from October 25 to 29, 2024 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

 

  • The National Botanical Garden participated in the 17th Chrysanthemum Competition and Exhibition organized by the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) from October 24 to 27, 2024 at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.

 

  • Dr. Govind Prasad Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE); Mr. Pradip Kumar Koirala, Joint Secretary, MoFE; Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Rai, Director General, Department of Plant Resources (DPR); Mr. Saroj Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Director General, DPR and the official staffs of Department of Plant Resources, MoFE; National Herbarium and Plant Laboratories, and National Botanical Garden planted endemic plant species “Elaeagnus tricholepis” in the Indigenous ornamental plant garden and “Living Fossil Plant” Ginkgo biloba in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG, on the occasion of Plant Conservation Day on May 18, 2024.

 

  • Young diplomats from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nepal visited the National Botanical Garden on May 04, 2024 (Youth Day in China) and planted two saplings of Ginkgo biloba in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG.

 

  • Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Rai, Director General of the Department of Plant Resources, and his family visited the National Botanical Garden on May 01, 2024. On the occasion of International Labour Day, he graciously planted a sapling of Ginkgo biloba in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG.
  • Director General Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Rai, Deputy Director General Mr. Saroj Kumar Chaudhary and Senior Scientific Officer Mr. Dipak Lamichhane of the Department of Plant Resources visited the National Botanical Garden on April 30, 2024.
  • The National Botanical Garden participated in the 1st National Horticulture Expo-2080 from March 29 to April 1, 2024, at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, organized by the Nursery Association Nepal (NAN), along with the National Herbarium and Plant Laboratories, and the Natural Products Research Laboratory of the Department of Plant Resources.
  • The National Botanical Garden participated in the 25th Flora Expo-2024 from March 14 to 17 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
  • Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Rai, Director General of the Department of Plant Resources, and his team visited the National Botanical Garden on March 16, 2024. He appreciated the NBG team and gave a few directions for the betterment of the garden.
  • Dr. Yufang Su, Unit Head of the Living Mountain Lab, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), along with her colleague, visited the National Botanical Garden on March 1, 2024.
  • Under the Friends of Botanical Garden program of the NBG, an inter-school quiz competition was held inside the botanical garden on February 26, 2024. There were six participating schools in the quiz. The Chief, including a few Research Officers, of the National Herbarium and the Plant Laboratories, Godawari were also present for the event, besides the Chief and staff of the NBG.
  • Dr. Rajendra K.C., the Director General of the Department of Plant Resources, paid a visit to the NBG on February 21, 2024. He appreciated the efforts of the NBG employees and made a few recommendations at that time.
  • We are pleased to inform you all about the commencement of computerized ticketing from the main entrance gate on December 27, 2023, at the National Botanical Garden. Mr. Bishal Karki is the first person to purchase our computerized ticket.
  • Masina Khadka, an Hon’ble Minister for Forest and Environment of Bagmati Province, visited this garden on October 29, 2023.
  • Staff, including the Chiefs, of the National Botanical Garden (NBG) and the National Herbarium and Plant Laboratories (NHPL) celebrated the 61st anniversary of the NBG on October 29, 2023, by planting a sapling of Taxus contorta, an endangered species according to IUCN threat category, in the Threatened Plants Garden of the NBG.
  • Courtesy visit and plantation of a sapling of Ginkgo biloba by Dr. Deepak Kumar Kharal, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG at the eve of the 61st anniversary of this garden on October 28, 2023. Dr. Rajendra K.C., Director General of the Department of Plant Resources, was also present on that occasion.
  • Prof. Dr. Ralph Mitlöhner, Prof. Dr. Dirk Hölscher, and the team from the Georg August University of Göttingen, Germany, visited the National Botanical Garden, Godawari, Lalitpur, Nepal, on October 27, 2023. The team was welcomed by the respected Dr. Rajendra KC, Director General of the Department of Plant Resources (DPR), Thapathali, and Dr. Madhusudan Thapa Magar, Chief of the NBG, Godawari. A sapling of Metasequoia glyptostroboides was planted by Prof. Dr. Ralph Mitlöhner, Prof. Dr. Dirk Hölscher, and Dr. Rajendra KC, the Director General of the DPR, at Mesozoic Avenue in the garden.
  • The members of the National Botanical Garden (NBG) welcomed Dr. Madhu Sudan Thapa Magar as the Chief of the NBG and the new NBG team bid farewell to Mr. Dipak Lamichhane, Former Chief of the NBG, on the same day on October 27, 2023.
  • Courtesy visit and plantation of a sapling of Ginkgo biloba by Dr. Birendra Prasad Mahato, Hon’ble Minister, and Dr. Rewati Raman Poudel, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, separately in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG on July 10, 2023.
  • Inspection visit by Dr. Rajendra K.C., Director General of the Department of Plant Resources to the NBG on June 22, 2023. A sapling of Metasequoia glyptostroboides was planted by him in the Mesozoic Avenue of the NBG on that occasion.
  • World Environment Day was observed on June 5, 2023, in the NBG in collaboration with the Godawari municipality and the Association of Pre-school Educators Nepal (APEN).  The theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” was the focus of various events, including schoolchildren’s drawings. On that occasion, Mr. Gajendra Maharjan, the mayor of the Godawari municipality, planted a sapling of Ginkgo biloba in the Mesozoic Avenue of the garden.
  • We are pleased to inform you that today (27 May 2023), the number of visitors to NBG crossed the half-million milestone for the first time in its history. We appreciate the assistance of every staff (former and present) in this regard. We are also very grateful to all the visitors who have visited our botanical garden. We also anticipate your visit to our botanical garden in the coming days.

  • A record-breaking 25,132 people visited the NBG on the first day of the Nepalese New Year 2080 (i.e., on April 14, 2023). We extend a warm greeting to everyone at the NBG on the occasion of New Year 2080.
  • Inauguration of a book entitled “Catalogue of Plants of National Botanical Garden, Nepal” authored by Gaurav Parmar, Dipak Lamichhane, and Jeevan Pandey by Bagmati Province Councillor Mrs. Bharati Pathak on the occasion of Plant Resources Day on April 12, 2023. The book was reviewed by a young scientist Dr. Uttam Babu Shrestha.
  • Participation in the 24th Flora Expo 2023 from March 30 to April 2, 2023, at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall, Kathmandu.
  • Visit by His Excellency Mr. Hanan Goder, ambassador of Israel to Nepal, and Mrs. Shashi Shrestha, former Minister of State for Health and Population to the NBG on April 2, 2023.
  • Visit by His Excellency Mr. Chen Song, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal along with other diplomats from the embassy to the NBG on March 5, 2023. His Excellency planted a sapling of Taxus mairei near the Coronation Pond on his visit.
